Lee
Lee Roy Selmon has a background that is a combination of family scholarships football and volunteer work in the community. In the first place, he was raised with Lucious and Jessie Selmon. They lived on the farm close to Eufala located in Oklahoma as one of their nine children. A second reason was he is the youngest of three brothers to play with Oklahoma. All three were All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey was a starter for the entire 1973 season. Lee Roy received the Outland and Lombardi Awards for being the most effective lineman in the USA. During his three-year tenure as the starting quarterback for Oklahoma, the Sooners went 32-1-1 and won two national titles. As an National Football Foundation Scholarship-Athlete, Selmon was awarded the opportunity to receive a scholarship in his third time in the year 1975. Selmon earned a degree in education. Lee Roy spent ten hours per week volunteering during his college years. After graduation Lee Roy relocating to Tampa and spent the next 9 years with the Buccaneers. There were three times, he was named All-Pro. Lee Roy began his professional career. In 1988, he was an Account Relations officer for Tampa's First Florida Bank. He was also a part of the following organizations: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. The Junior Chamber of Commerce honored Lee Roy in 1982 for being among the top 10 young men in the US. Lee Roy, a 6-2-inch higher and weighing in at the hefty 256 pounds at college when he was a player, captained his team for the year 1975. In 1993, he became the associate director of Athletics at the University of South Florida. He was named associate director of athletics by the College Football Hall of Fame named the player as a member in the year the year 1988. GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994. Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. The Oklahoma City Chapter of the National Football Foundation in 1989 gave the Distinguished American Award to his parents Mr. and Mrs.. Lucious Selmon Sr. Henry Bellmon, the governor of Oklahoma awarded it.
