Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington has been an Greek American columnist, author and businesswoman for more than 20 years. She is the co-founder and chief executive officer of Thrive Global, as well being the author of 15 books. Arianna Huffington is a journalist, writer, philanthropist and television host, and owner of The Huffington Post. Her move from Greece to England at the age of 16 and obtained a MA at Cambridge University in Economics. At 21 she became president of the famed debate society The Cambridge Union' and was the first foreign student who was elected to this position. Following graduation, she left her mark as an editorialist for the conservative syndicate and with the launch of The Huffington Post' few years later, she developed a voice-based website that gave critical opinions on the political scenario. In part, her fame has helped attract a number of famous contributors. Arianna was famous after she was elected as an independent in the California recall elections to replace Governor Davis. Also, she was the head of an Detroit automobile project that was fuel efficient. Forbes named her as 12th on their list of the Top influential women in the media. Guardian also included the Huffington Post on their list of the top 100 in the year 2010. AOL Inc. acquired The Huffington Post in 2011 and appointed her as the president of their media company that also includes the other AOL brands like Engadget AOL Music Style list as well as Patch Media. Elli Stasinopoulos was a daughter born to Konstantinos a management advisor and journalist. They were very close to her father. However, it was her bond with her mother that shaped her. She was a leader from the beginning. When she was in her 16th year she moved to Britain for a degree and attended Girton College Cambridge. While in college she joined Cambridge Union, a college debate club. The third female president, and also the first foreigner she held the position of head of the Cambridge Union. In 1972 she received a degree in Economics. After her graduation she became a columnist, critic and TV host. She also appeared with Bernard Levin in an episode of Face the music and started writing books using the editorial services of Bernard Levin.
