April Ross

April Ross is one of only a few female beach volleyball players who have won medals in multiple Olympics. Alix Klineman, competing for the first time in Tokyo's Olympics is hoping to secure her third medal. In addition, Ross hopes to win her first Olympic gold. The next chance she'll ever have to do so at the age of 39. But she's still confident of achieving top honours. Ross was mentioned in NBC Boston as saying that If you put in your best, even if you do well, we'll get the gold. In addition, I'm planning put my faith in a touch of luck. Ross was born on the 22nd of October, 1982. She was raised in Costa Mesa California where she lived with her parents and sister. Ross played in numerous activities while at Newport Harbor High School. Her prep athletic career included indoor volleyball along with basketball as well as running and track. However, she was a standout during this game. According to her bio her high school days, she was a volleyball player as an outside setter (middle blocker) and the setter (outside blocker). In recognition of her accomplishments, she received the Gatorade Award for the National Player of 1999. The skills she showed in volleyball also earned her the Orange County Athlete of the Years trophy in 2000. Ross and Klineman began their relationship in 2017 but Ross has been a beach celebrity for a long time prior to. In actual Ross has been a winner of several major tournaments in her career along with her two teammates. One of them is a legend. For six years from 2007-2013 she played with Jennifer Kessy who more recently served as her and Klineman's coach. Together together with Kessy Ross, she won an Olympic Title in 2009 while competing on the international circuit. They went through to take home a silver medal at the 2012 Olympic Games at London. They were beaten out for the gold by the legendary group comprised of Misty May-Treanor as well as Kerri Walsh (Jennings). Ross Jennings replaced May-Treanor when she retired. The pair won the beach volleyball bronze at the Rio Olympics in 2016. Ross was a student athlete at USC Trojans prior to beginning her pro career. She was a player in high school and in some years before she hit the beaches as a professional. Her time at USC was a memorable one. She was a All-American as well as Pac-10 freshman of the year when she was a teen freshman. Additionally, she assisted her Trojans to make it to the Final Four. She was devastated by a personal tragedy during her sophomore years, yet she managed to become an All-American in her second year. Through her two final years in the Trojans program, she guided the team to win a national championship every time. In her own way she established herself as a legend by winning the Honda Sports Award for 2003-04. This award was given to the top female volleyball players at colleges across the country. Ross majored at USC in International Relations. Margie Ross, Ross' mother, did not have the opportunity to see her daughter become the beach volleyball's biggest star. As of 2001, when Ross was a sophomore studying at USC her mother passed away from breast cancer. She is devoted to her parents who passed away. Margie has inspired her in her life and on the beaches.
